Way back in 1958, Mr. Jesús Vargas Abín established De Vargas, a menswear store in México where he sold shirts, trousers, suits, ties, underwear, accessories, etc. In 1977 Mr. José Vargas Snyder started working with his father. He continued offering the same products until his father died in 1977. In those days, men’s underwear sheltered men's virility, failing the true objective: supporting men's virility. Due to his vast experience in men's clothing, Mr. Vargas Snyder was quick to notice that his customers were seeking sensual underwear. His idea bore the exclusive Exclhom design, a garment made of Polyamid Elasthan, which fit a man’s body perfectly. He manufactured and sold the product in his own store, and word-of-mouth had his customers requesting it on a regular basis.

He decided to try his hand at selling his garments in other stores, so he contacted clothing business people and hired a sales broker. The wholesalers considered the design too cheeky, they thought the customer would reject them, but he didn't give up; with the great results obtained in his store, he started selling to retail customers.

Then in 1988, the country's economic crisis forced the company to stop manufacturing the garments, taking it back to basics. At the end of 1990, De Vargas’s profits were hampered, then Mr. Vargas Snyder restarted the business that had worked so successfully before: manufacturing Polyamid Elasthan garments - but this time, his approach was much more professional and ambitious, and he focused on prestige wholesalers.

In early 1991, the Joe Snyder brand returned to the market. Many customers were buying poor quality similar products made by former employees of De Vargas; which in turn made Joe Snyder's return very difficult. Through excellent service, attention and strict quality controls, the company regained some former customers and acquired new ones. The company applied for patents of its models and sold the products to diverse prestige wholesalers, while keeping their retail buyers.
